There has been an idea out there propagated by various organizations called ‚peace through Israeli victory.‘ The idea being, ‚We impose absolute defeat on the Palestinians, and when they realize they are utterly defeated, then they will accept whatever is given to them, and everyone can go and have a better life.‘ That is the best description of where we are now.“

Daß die arabische Seite diese politische Entwicklung anders beurteilt, siehe unten, das kann nicht überraschen. Es geht jetzt um die Frage, ob die Illusion eines sowieso immer faulen Kompromisses zugunsten einer dauerhaften Lösung aufgegeben wird, und das bedeutet für die arabische Seite erstens einen sehr weitgehenden Verzicht auf ihre bisherigen Forderungen und zweitens eine entsprechende politisch-praktische Neuorientierung. Aber ob sich die einstellen wird?
