Doug Collins: Dems ‚Want to Cheat,‘ Throw Out Trump

Ostensibly rejecting House Democrats‘ impeachment inquiry and election meddling campaign, House Judiciary Ranking Member Doug Collins, R-Ga., predicted Democrats‘ „house of cards“ is about to come crashing down.
„This house of cards constructed by Democrats over the last two years is about to come crashing down,“ Collins wrote in his closing statement Monday released to the media.

„The president was doing his job,“ he concluded. „The Democrats don’t like that he’s doing it well because that means he’ll win in 2020. So, they want to cheat and throw him out. They want to not only impeach the president; they want to impeach every American who voted for him.
„This impeachment is a joke, and Americans know it. There has been no crime, there has been nothing improper. This is a smokescreen for the documented misconduct against this president.“
Collins added in his spoken closing statement a rejection of Monday’s hearing featuring committee staff testifying as opposed to House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who wrote the Schiff report for impeachment and unprecedentedly did not testify on its contents like Ken Starr in the impeachment proceedings of former President Bill Clinton.
„This is not the way this should be held, again the reason it is Mr. Goldman – who handled himself very well but he’s not Adam Schiff – he doesn’t wear a Member pin, and this is ridiculous,“ Collins said. „We shouldn’t be doing this.“
Among the other improprieties by Democrats, according to Collins‘ closing remarks, is Schiff took phone records, going after the House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes, R-Calif., in a „smear job,“ and putting them in his report.
Also, Collins continued, House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., „continued to disregard House rules“ in his presiding over Monday’s hearing and not addressing Republicans‘ request for a „minority hearing day.“
„We are seeing the problems with the Russia investigation play out again in front of our eyes,“ Collins read in an excerpt from his written statement. „This fuss over Ukraine is the same thing, using the same playbook: A select group of individuals are colluding against President Trump, to ensure they ‚get‘ him, and they are blowing through every procedure and principle of fairness and honesty to ensure they get him in time.“
